About Midori
Founded in 1950 and now part of Designphil, Midori is a key name in Japanese stationery design. The name “Midori,” meaning green, reflects a focus on simplicity and everyday growth, rather than a direct link to its founder. The brand is best known for its MD Paper, introduced in 2008, designed for smooth writing with minimal bleed and feathering. Midori also developed the original Traveler’s Notebook, later spun off into Traveler’s Company. Other notable lines include the Brass Series and compact XS stationery tools. Midori combines functional design with a calm, tactile aesthetic rooted in everyday writing experiences.
